Day 4 Kylemore Abbey Summer School

A wet and rainy start to the day this morning didn’t dampen the spirits one bit. 3D Animation workshops with Lisa Carroll and Film workshops with Ray Beggan were running up until lunch time. This photo here shows students reflecting on the rendered animation of a basketball being thrown by a character into the basket, following on from their maths classes where they studied the flight of a ball yesterday. Students also completed building a one string guitar and pick up, which will be used in the final day performance on Sunday at 12.30pm in the Kylemore Abbey Ballroom.

As the weather had turned, students elected to continue with workshops which included shooting a short film involving the students irish dancing under the expert eye of Irish Dancing Champion and Maths teacher Aisling, who has been coaching them.

Students were working extremely hard this evening completing the short film shoot, which they will edit over the next two days. Filming tomorrow morning for another film will commence at 8.30 am.

Tomorrow morning students will also commence the NetFreqs.com project which will see students use this benchmarking mobile device technology, collecting data of mobile coverage from around the Campus and National Park which will then be analysed and conclusions drawn using probability and statistical methods such as standard deviation and sample size. Donal and Aisling will be taking these workshops.
Another very busy day tomorrow with Killary Adventure Centre Activities including Giant Swing and High Ropes after filming has been completed. Tomorrow evening will be focused editing, rehearsing, composing and producing so students really have their work cut put for them. There is so much to do and only two days left!
