Summer Camps 2021
Important Notice for Parents
We would like to thank you most sincerely for choosing Connemara Maths Academy for your children this summer. We are very much looking forward to welcoming all our students, new and returning, to our camps. We would like to remind parents that this year’s summer camps are being held exclusively at Rockwell College in County Tipperary. The exact location is available on our Summer Camps page in the main menu above.
Balance Payments are due 4 weeks prior to camp starting.
Check List for Students
Arrival time is Sunday 7pm.
Parents are asked to park in the main car park beside the main building, (second turn off the roundabout after you drive through the front gate). CMA staff will be on hand to direct you. We ask parents and children to remain in their cars until a staff member comes to you and collects your child or children. We ask parents to remain in their cars for the duration of the drop off period.
Parents are asked to have evidence of a negative covid test result (for children attending the summer camp) taken within the previous 24 hours to hand, to show a staff member. Any of the recognised and approved rapid antigen tests including self administered tests will suffice. Staff members will also ask parents to sign a statement declaring that their child has not been a close contact of a covid positive case, has no symptoms and that all reasonable steps have been taken to avoid infection in the preceding period of time before arrival.
Departure is Saturday 1pm for the 6 night camps.
For the shorter 5 night camp (August Sunday 1st – Friday 6th) Departure is at 5pm on Friday.
Collection point is at main car park and we ask parents again to remain in their cars.
Presentations to parents usually take place on the final day in the lecture theatre, however this summer presentations will be uploaded on to our website for parents to enjoy that evening.
Items to bring include
Personally Labelled Refillable Water Bottle, spare towel (in addition to the towel we provide), old pair of shoes/trainers for water based activities, sports gear, sunblock, light anorak/waterproof jacket, swimming gear including cap and goggles, face masks. Students who wish to bring a wetsuit for the water activities may do so. Generally students don’t wear wetsuits during the summer months as the lake water is not cold at this time of year. We supply all equipment and gear for activities and workshops.
There is a limited selection of treats available to buy from vending machines (coins only). Any food brought to camp by students should be placed in clearly labelled plastic bags or packs. All food brought on site is collected on arrival and students can take what they need after meals during the day. No food or drinks (except water) is permitted in the dorms at any time.
CMA customised hoodies (€40), t-shirts and caps (€15 each) will be available to buy on campus.
Citizens of the EU (not from Ireland) relying on the EU Health Insurance should bring their EHIC insurance card with them. EU Citizens with private health insurance should send a copy to email@example.com

Communications during Camp
There is fast WiFi at Rockwell and students will have the opportunity to go online to call or send messages to their parents and receive calls from parents during the allocated time just after breakfast and before workshops commence at 10am. Parents who wish to contact their children at other times can do so through the main office on 095 31925 or by email email@example.com.
In urgent cases, parents can use the Emergency Whats App Number 086 8772885 to get in touch with us.
All devices are collected on arrival and are given back to students every morning after breakfast. This rule is very strictly adhered to and any students found to have brought an additional device with them which they have not declared or are found to have a device on them outside of the allocated times will be asked to leave the camp. We would also like to make very clear that any bullying of any kind will not be tolerated at any time and students who do not adhere to this zero tolerance rule will be asked to leave. Any student who shows any disrespect of any kind to staff members will be asked to leave.
