Students woke up to a lovely sunny morning with breakfast in the Kylemore Abbey Dining Hall. The dining hall is to the front left of the main door overlooking the terrace and lake. A full day ahead of them with our brilliant and uniquely talented teachers Ray Beggan (Film & Photography), Aisling Carew and Aidan Fitzsimons (Centre Directors & Maths), Gavin Timlin & Cian (Music Technology), John Heffernan (Virtual Reality), Beatriz Romero (Student Advisor) and Master Gus (Tai Chi).
Students explored the construction of geometric spaces with Aisling this morning and following this workshop, they had Virtual Reality with John. Students will have the opportunity to appreciate their work through the Occulus Rift headset which will be making an appearance this week when the mapping is completed. Going to be very exciting!
Music Technology workshops (brilliantly delivered by Create Sounds) and maths are never that far away from one another and such was the case here this morning! Patterns and Rhythms!
After lunch we were joined by Tai Chi Ireland’s ‘Master Gus’ who enthralled us with a magnificent display of Tai Chi and then teachers and students joined forces with Gus. This brilliant workshop where spheres and circles were explored was a great way to relax, focus and balance.
Following Tai Chi, off to the playing fields for a game of football with the stunning 12 Ben Mountain Range and Diamond Hill backdrops on a warm, sunny Connemara afternoon.
Dinner at the Dining Hall and then the final workshop of the day in the Kylemore Abbey Ballroom with Gavin and Cian (Create Sounds) leading the way just as the mist descended on another great day. Tomorrow’s packed agenda includes Giant Swing Adventure Activity using GoPro technology to ascertain what speed students are whizzing through the air at, how far they have travelled and the maximum angle among other pursuits. This will be done by analysing footage taken from the GoPro cameras they’re wearing throughout the activity. Archery, Virtual Reality, Film Production and Maths will feature as well. Hope we all get a good night sleep!
